So I recently did some drawings to the winners of the 5 Boro Battle of the Bands which was open to all middle and high school kids from all boroughs of the city. Such nostalgia of waiting in school hallways for friends/boyfriends bands to perform…but no gym auditorium for NYC kids-this show was thrown at Arlenes Grocery, pretty bad ass! Anyway the young bands are great check em out!
The middle school band that won is The Slicks who in their fb band description say “We were born on punk and the love for music…We are here to punkify the Pledge of Alligence, and to change the world through music and art. We are young, we love listening and playing music, we are fresh, we are The Slicks.” Sooo adorable! The House Band won for the High school band and apparently they listed their genre as AWESOME!
Anyway congrats dudes :) yes all dudes wah wah, maybe next year there will be some bad ass middle school riot grrrl band!

so I made valentines that were sold on the bruise cruise this year of all the bands on board, and I gave some out to some of the folks in said bands here’s some silly photos
Back from the belly of the musical beast that is SXSW let’s see saw a bajillion shows threw a late night show with Habibi, Teenage News, and Natural Child pretty badass, got to see ROKY ERICKSON and definitely cried, good friends good people good bands miss it already but I’m happy to be able to sleep
